Urban lifestyle session | Brooklyn, NY Family Photographer and Dallas, TX Family Photographer
Last week I had the amazing opportunity to mentor with a husband/wife family photographer team in Brooklyn, New York. I love their candid, journalistic style of shooting and editing so I chose them for a one-on-one mentorship. We shot in a hip, trendy area of Brooklyn, NY – the DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). And it was such a nice break from the 100 degree Texas heat.
Most of my business, especially in the fall, is photographing families. Like some photographers, I felt like I had gotten into a creative rut, and I needed some inspiration intervention…especially considering my busy season is approaching. I owe it to my clients and myself to refuel my creative tank. I truly believe that there is always room to grow and improve and a need to rekindle that artistic flame. And I always want this “job” to feel less like a job and more like my passion.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” -W.B. Yeats
I am so glad that I did this mentorship. I learned a lot of shooting techniques AND it validated some things that I was already doing. I hope that you enjoy these images that I captured as much as I do. 🙂
